Frequently Asked Questions

Storage terms are flexible and depend on the volume and nature of the freight. We're not a long-term storage facility, but short-term staging — from overnight to several weeks — is regularly accommodated. Contact us to discuss your specific requirements and we'll work out a suitable arrangement.

Yes. If you're supplying materials to multiple SA sites from one interstate shipment, we can receive the full consignment at our depot, break it down, and schedule deliveries to each site separately. This is a cost-effective approach for suppliers servicing multiple Adelaide builders simultaneously.

We provide direct communication between our office team and the client throughout the process — from freight receipt confirmation through to proof of delivery. Photos, delivery times, and driver updates are all available. You don't need to be in Adelaide to know your freight has arrived safely.

We regularly work with clients and suppliers from Victoria, New South Wales, and Western Australia. If you're shipping materials into Adelaide and need a reliable local partner to handle the final delivery, contact Phil to discuss setting up an account.

Commercial projects regularly require us to move glass panels, concrete slabs, pre-cast elements, stillages, and other high-risk loads. Our operators are trained in rigging, load control, and fragile load handling. We assess each load individually and use the appropriate vehicle and restraint method for the job.

Yes. Scaffold hire companies, labour-hire scaffolders, and independent scaffolders all use Toretto for transport logistics. If you're managing multiple sites across Adelaide and need a reliable scaffold transport partner, talk to us about setting up an ongoing account.

For planned project deliveries, 48–72 hours notice is ideal. For urgent or same-day scaffold runs, call us directly — we'll tell you immediately what capacity we have. Scaffold deliveries tied to build schedules should be booked as early as possible to lock in your timing.

Scaffold is typically transported on flatbed rigid trucks or semi-trailers depending on load volume and site access. For jobs requiring crane or telehandler assistance to place scaffold at height or over obstacles, we can incorporate this into the booking.

Yes — coordinated timing is essential for scaffold deliveries, and we work to your crew's schedule. If your scaffolders are arriving at 7am, we can work to have materials on-site before they start. Give us the required arrival window when booking.

Scaffold is transported on flatbed trucks using load bars, strapping, and edge protection where required. Drivers are briefed on the load profile before departure. We photograph loads pre- and post-delivery and can provide this documentation on request.

We work regularly with suppliers and freight forwarders from Victoria, New South Wales, and Western Australia. Once your freight arrives in SA, we can receive it at our depot, manage short-term storage, and complete the Adelaide last-mile delivery on your schedule. We provide proof of delivery and keep you updated throughout.

Semis are not suitable for all residential streets due to length, turning radius, and weight limits. In many cases, we'll use a semi to deliver to a staging point and transfer to a rigid truck or Moffett for the final site drop. We assess each job individually — give us the site address and access conditions when booking.

For standard metro deliveries, 24–48 hours is generally sufficient. For large commercial jobs, interstate coordination, or sideloader container work, more lead time helps ensure smooth scheduling. Call us to discuss your timeline and we'll confirm what's achievable.

Yes — this is one of Toretto's key capabilities for interstate clients. A semi drops the load at our Para Hills West depot, we store it short-term in our secure, insured warehouse, and then deliver last-mile to your Adelaide construction site using the most appropriate vehicle for the job. This avoids double-pickup costs and simplifies your logistics chain.

A sideloader is a semi-trailer with a crane-style lifting mechanism on the side that can pick up and set down shipping containers without needing a separate forklift or crane. It's the most efficient option for container deliveries where the receiving site doesn't have unloading equipment. Toretto's sideloader is used regularly for interstate clients shipping materials into SA.

Our semis handle hebel blocks, bricks, timber, steel, tanks, pallets, scaffold, and bulk construction materials. With sideloader capability, we can also manage container pickups and drops — ideal for interstate suppliers shipping freight into Adelaide.

All loads are secured using straps, chains, or load-specific restraints in compliance with the Load Restraint Guide (National Heavy Vehicle Regulator). Our drivers are trained in load restraint and do a pre-departure check on every job. Photo documentation is available on request.

Our primary coverage is metro Adelaide, but we service broader SA for the right jobs. Outer suburbs, regional towns, and Kangaroo Island deliveries have all been completed by our fleet. Contact us with your delivery location for confirmation.

Our drivers assist with safe unloading procedures and can coordinate with site staff. For jobs that require mechanical unloading (forklift, crane, or Moffett), this can be arranged as part of the booking. Let us know your site's unloading capabilities when you enquire.

Flatbeds work well for timber, steel, frames, hebel, bricks, turf, tanks, scaffold, landscaping materials, and mixed loads. If materials need to be palletised, strapped, or crated for safe transport, our team will advise on packaging requirements at the time of booking.

An MR (Medium Rigid) truck is smaller and better suited to tight residential streets, low-clearance sites, and smaller load volumes. An HR (Heavy Rigid) truck carries more weight and is used for larger loads or more open sites. Toretto operates both — when you book, tell us your site conditions and load size and we'll allocate the right vehicle.

Yes — this is a common requirement on active construction sites. Our crane truck operators are trained in rigging and load control for exactly these situations. Site conditions, scaffold height, and load weight all factor into planning, so provide as much detail as possible when enquiring.

A straightforward telehandler lift of a standard plasterboard load to a second-floor frame takes 30–90 minutes depending on volume and site conditions. Crane jobs with rigging requirements take longer. We'll give you a realistic time estimate when you book so your crew can plan accordingly.

Our telehandlers comfortably reach second and third-floor level, which covers the majority of Adelaide residential and multi-res construction. Our crane trucks extend to 15m and 21m reach for taller or more complex structures. For specific height requirements, confirm with us at booking.

Significantly safer. Manual handling of heavy materials up stairs or ladders is one of the leading causes of injury on construction sites. Using a telehandler or crane truck eliminates that risk entirely, places materials faster, and removes the need for multiple crew members to be involved in what is otherwise a non-productive task.

Plasterboard, benchtops, joinery, stone, timber frames, roofing materials, glass, and palletised goods are all regularly lifted to upper floors by our team. If you have a specific material or unusual load, describe it when enquiring and we'll confirm the best approach.

Load security is non-negotiable on every job. Our operators are trained in rigging and load restraint, and we carry appropriate lifting gear for each job type. We document lifts with photos and provide proof of delivery. If there are any concerns during a lift, we stop and reassess — we'd rather take longer than cause damage.

Crane trucks require stable ground and sufficient clearance for the outriggers to deploy safely. We always do a pre-job assessment and our operators will raise any access concerns before work begins. If your site has specific constraints — overhead power lines, narrow driveways, soft ground — let us know when booking so we can plan accordingly.

We offer both hourly and fixed-price options depending on the scope of work. For straightforward lifts, an hourly rate works well. For complex or multi-lift jobs, we can quote a fixed price so you have certainty on cost before the truck arrives. Request an estimate through our website or call Phil directly.

All Toretto crane truck operators hold current High Risk Work Licences (HRWL) for crane operation, are white card certified, and have real-world experience on active Adelaide construction sites. We carry full public liability and workers compensation insurance.

We regularly lift bricks, hebel blocks, pallets, steel frames, pre-cast panels, glass, tanks, and other heavy or oversized construction materials. Our crane trucks are also used for container lifts, site shed relocations, and equipment placement.

Our crane truck fleet includes 15m and 21m reach options, with an extended 8.6m tray for oversized loads. This covers the majority of residential, commercial, and industrial lift requirements across Adelaide and South Australia.

Yes — we service both. Residential builds, multi-res developments, commercial fit-outs, industrial projects, and civil works have all been serviced by Toretto. Our equipment range covers the requirements of both site types.

Damage prevention is built into every job through correct load restraint, appropriate vehicle selection, and trained drivers. In the rare event of damage, we have insurance in place and a clear process for resolution. We document all deliveries with photos — pre-departure and on arrival — which protects both parties.

Yes. All Toretto drivers and operators hold current White Cards (General Construction Induction), and our operators of specialised equipment — cranes, telehandlers, forklifts — hold the relevant High Risk Work Licences. We are Safety Accredited and carry full public liability insurance.

Our telehandler fleet is specifically selected for providing reliable Upper Floor Lift Service Adelaide. They can comfortably reach and safely place materials on second and third-floor levels for multi-res builds and renovations. We recommend calling us to confirm the exact reach for your specific site and load requirements.

Yes. All Toretto telehandler operators are local, fully licensed, and have extensive on-site experience, particularly in the unique challenges of the metro Adelaide construction environment. We are Safety Accredited and fully insured, ensuring all upper-floor lift services are performed compliantly and with full transparency.

Telehandlers offer a significantly more cost-effective solution for vertical lifts up to several stories, allowing you to save up to 50% on labour costs compared to a full-sized crane. They require less setup time, are easier to maneuver in tight access areas, and are often faster for repetitive material placement like plasterboard, benchtops, and pallets.

Weekend bookings need to be done a weekend prior but, Yes, we understand the need for flexible scheduling and can accommodate early morning, late afternoon, and weekend jobs to suit your project's timeline, subject to availability and local regulations.

We recommend booking as far in advance as possible to secure your preferred date and time, especially for peak periods. However, we do our best to accommodate last-minute requests. Contact us to check availability.

Our primary service area is metro Adelaide, but we do take jobs across greater South Australia depending on scope and scheduling. Contact us with your site location and we'll confirm availability and any additional logistics requirements.

Our telehandlers can lift a wide variety of materials, including pallets of bricks, timber, roofing materials, steel, and general construction supplies.

Yes — tight access is one of the key reasons builders choose telehandlers over cranes. Our machines are selected and configured for Adelaide's medium-density residential environment, where driveways, fences, and neighbouring properties often limit what larger equipment can safely do.

Our fleet is configured for second and third-floor access, which covers the vast majority of residential and multi-res builds in Adelaide. For specific height requirements — particularly anything above three storeys — call us before booking so we can confirm the right machine for your job.

Yes. All Toretto telehandler operators hold current licences for elevated work platforms and telescopic handlers, carry full public liability insurance, and have extensive experience on both residential and commercial SA construction sites. We are Safety Accredited and comply with all SafeWork SA requirements.

Our telehandlers regularly handle plasterboard, benchtops, timber frames, pallets of bricks, roofing materials, steel sections, air-conditioning units, and even wine fermenters. If it's palletised or can be safely rigged, we can generally lift it. Call us to confirm suitability for unusual loads.

A telehandler (telescopic handler) is a versatile lifting machine with an extendable boom arm that can reach upper floors, tight corners, and awkward angles that a crane often can't access efficiently. For most residential and medium-density builds in Adelaide, a telehandler is faster to set up, cheaper to hire, and doesn't require the same permit overhead as a full crane. Toretto's telehandler operators are trained specifically for construction site environments across metro SA.

Last-mile delivery is the final leg of a freight journey — from a depot or warehouse to the actual job site. For interstate suppliers shipping materials into Adelaide, this is often the hardest part to manage remotely. Toretto acts as your boots on the ground in SA: we receive your freight, store it if needed, and deliver it to site at the right time with the right equipment.

Yes. Our Para Hills West facility has the access and equipment to receive sideloader and semi-trailer drops. Once received, freight is stored in our secure, insured warehouse until you're ready for site delivery. This is particularly useful when your SA job site isn't ready to receive materials immediately.

Our warehouse is monitored by security cameras and covered by insurance for stored goods. It's used regularly by interstate clients who need a trusted SA-based staging point before last-mile delivery. We can confirm specific storage terms and insurance details when you enquire.

We select the right vehicle for each last-mile job based on load type, volume, and site access. This includes flatbeds, rigid trucks, Moffett-equipped vehicles, crane trucks, and telehandlers. The same fleet that handles our direct deliveries handles last-mile drops — there's no step-down in capability.

We use telehandlers for most upper-floor placements — they're fast, manoeuvrable, and ideal for second and third-storey access on residential and multi-res builds. For heavier lifts or more complex angles, we use crane trucks with 15m or 21m reach. The right choice depends on your load type, site access, and floor height — call us and we'll recommend the correct setup.

Permit requirements depend on whether the lift requires road occupation (e.g., a lane closure or parking suspension) rather than the lift itself. Our team is experienced with Adelaide City Council and outer council permit processes. If your job is likely to require road occupation, mention it when booking and we'll advise on what's needed.

Ideally, the landing zone on the upper level should be clear and structurally sound enough to accept the load. Your team should be aware of the delivery time and ready to receive and secure materials once placed. Our driver will do a brief site assessment on arrival and confirm the plan before any lifting begins.

For upper-floor lifts on residential and medium-density builds, builders typically save up to 50% on labour and equipment costs compared to booking a full-sized crane. Telehandlers require less setup time, no crane operator certification overhead, and are far more maneuverable in tight access situations — which is most of Adelaide's metro builds.

We recommend booking as early as possible to lock in your preferred date, especially during peak construction periods. That said, we accommodate short-notice and same-day requests where our schedule allows. Call us directly and we'll tell you what's available.

Toretto Transport Australia services both residential and commercial construction sites, as well as industrial projects.

Semi-trailers are the right choice when load volume exceeds what a rigid truck can carry in a single run typically 20+ pallets, very long freight, or bulk materials where consolidating into one load saves time and cost. They're also used for interstate freight drops, container movements, and large commercial site re-stocks.

All Toretto heavy vehicle drivers hold current Heavy Combination (HC) or Multi-Combination (MC) licenses as required, are medically certified, and comply with Chain of Responsibility obligations under the Heavy Vehicle National Law. We manage all compliance internally no subcontractors.

Both. Toretto handles scaffold pick-up from scaffold yards, depots, and suppliers and delivers directly to your construction site. We also coordinate return pickups when scaffold is no longer needed. If you need a full pick-up, deliver, and return service, mention this when booking.

We transport all standard scaffolding types used on Adelaide construction sites — modular systems, tube and coupler, frame scaffold, and system scaffold components. Long, awkward scaffold sections are handled using flatbeds with proper load restraint for the length and profile of the components.

Yes. Many Adelaide residential sites have narrow driveways, small frontages, or limited street access. Our drivers are experienced in navigating these conditions and will plan the approach before arriving. For particularly constrained sites, a pre-delivery site visit can be arranged.

A flatbed truck has an open, flat tray with no fixed sides or roof, making it ideal for loading and unloading oversized, long, or awkward materials that wouldn't fit in an enclosed truck. For construction, this means timber, steel, hebel panels, frames, pipes, and mixed loads can all be loaded efficiently and secured properly for transport across Adelaide.

Our fleet includes tray lengths from standard configurations up to 8.6m for oversized freight. This covers most residential and commercial delivery requirements across SA. If you have a specific length requirement, mention it when requesting your estimate.

Yes, subject to availability. For urgent jobs across metro Adelaide, call us directly rather than using the online form it's the fastest way to confirm if we can get a truck to you that day. We regularly accommodate last-minute resupply runs for active construction sites.

A crane truck has a hydraulic crane mounted on the truck itself, giving it lifting capacity and reach suited to heavier, more complex lift particularly where load weight exceeds what a telehandler can handle, or where the lift needs to clear obstacles like fences, rooflines, or scaffold. Telehandlers are better for repetitive upper-floor placements. If you're unsure, call us we'll assess your job and recommend the right equipment, not the most expensive option.

We do our best to accommodate urgent bookings across metro Adelaide. Availability depends on current scheduling, so call us directly for the fastest answer. For planned jobs, we recommend booking at least a few days ahead to secure your preferred time.

We deliver the full range of construction materials used across residential and commercial builds — including plasterboard, hebel blocks, bricks, scaffold, timber, steel frames, tiles, glass, benchtops, tanks, spas, solar panels, kitchen cabinets, and more. If it needs to get to a job site in SA, we've more than likely moved it before.

Yes. Consolidating multiple material types into one delivery is one of the most effective ways to reduce costs and truck movements on a project. We plan mixed loads carefully to ensure materials are secured correctly and arrive in the same condition they left. Specify all materials required when requesting your estimate.

We work around your build schedule, not ours. Early morning starts, specific arrival windows, and time-sensitive drops are all part of our service. When booking, tell us your scheduling requirements and we'll confirm what's achievable. Our office team stays in contact with drivers throughout the day.

Yes. We work with builders on ongoing project delivery arrangements, not just one-off runs. For larger projects requiring regular material drops over weeks or months, we can set up a scheduling arrangement that keeps your site consistently stocked without you having to re-book each time.

  • The fastest way is to call us directly with your material list, site address, and delivery timeframe. For detailed quotes — particularly for multi-material or recurring project deliveries — use our customer portal for a full breakdown. Phil, our Business Development Manager, handles new enquiries directly.

Yes. For large commercial builds requiring consistent delivery support over weeks or months, we offer ongoing truck and operator arrangements. This removes the need for daily bookings, gives your site a dedicated resource, and means the driver becomes familiar with your site, your team, and your scheduling preferences. Talk to us about what your project needs.

All Toretto operators are White Card certified (General Construction Induction). Operators of specialised equipment cranes, telehandlers, and forklifts hold current High Risk Work licenses (HRWL) in the relevant category. We are Safety Accredited and carry full public liability and workers compensation insurance. Safety documentation is available on request.

Chain of Responsibility (CoR) obligations apply to everyone in the supply chain, not just the driver. Toretto manages this internally our drivers are employees, not subcontractors, which means training, licensing, fatigue management, and load compliance are all controlled by us. We can provide CoR documentation for your project records if required.

Yes. Documentation is standard on commercial jobs. We provide photo records of load condition pre-departure and on delivery, signed proof of delivery, and time logs. For long-term site arrangements, we can set up a regular reporting format that suits your project management requirements.

Yes. Commercial sites typically have specific induction, PPE, and access protocols, and our team is experienced in complying with these. Let us know your site's requirements when setting up the account and we'll ensure all drivers are inducted and briefed before their first arrival.

We've worked across residential multi-storey developments, commercial fit-outs, industrial builds, retail construction, infrastructure projects, and civil works across SA. Builders including Beechwood Homes, Metricon, and Watpac have used our services. Our fleet and team are configured for the demands of professional construction environments.

Contact Phil, our Business Development Manager, directly by phone at (08) 8463 1029 or via the enquiry form on our website. We'll discuss your project requirements, set up an account, and agree on a scheduling and communication arrangement that works for your site. Most commercial accounts are set up within 24–48 hours of first contact.

A Moffett (also called a truck-mounted forklift) is a compact forklift that rides on the back of the delivery truck and detaches on arrival to unload materials directly at the point of placement. This means you don't need a separate site forklift or additional equipment the truck arrives, detaches the Moffett, places your materials exactly where they need to go, and leaves. It's one of the most efficient delivery setups for construction sites.

Our Moffett is suited to palletised materials including bricks, blocks, timber, landscaping materials, bagged goods, and general construction supplies. It handles uneven ground better than standard forklifts, making it ideal for residential sites that aren't fully prepared yet.

No. That's the main advantage. The Moffett travels with the truck and does the unloading on-site. This removes the need to hire a separate forklift, wait for site equipment to be available, or rely on manual handling for heavy pallets.

Yes. Moffetts are designed for real-world site conditions, including gravel, compacted dirt, and slightly uneven surfaces. They're widely used on residential builds precisely because sites are rarely flat and clean. For very soft or unstable ground, let us know when booking so we can assess suitability.

A standard flatbed delivery drops materials at the kerbside or gate someone on-site needs to move them from there. A Moffett delivery places materials at the point of use, reducing double-handling, saving your crew time, and lowering the risk of injury from manual handling. For most residential and light commercial jobs, the Moffett option is the smarter choice.

The truck needs enough road or site access to pull up safely, and the Moffett needs approximately 1.5–2m of clearance on either side to operate. For very tight sites or narrow streets, contact us before booking so we can confirm feasibility and plan the best approach.

Our operators hold current forklift licenses and are trained in truck-mounted forklift operation. All Toretto staff are employees not subcontractors which means they're trained to our standards and fully covered under our insurance and safety policies.

Yes. If materials arrive at our depot before your site is ready, we can store them short-term and complete the Moffett delivery to site when you need them. This is particularly useful for interstate freight we receive the load, stage it, and deliver last-mile at your direction.

We use purpose-appropriate vehicles, load securing methods, and trained drivers who understand how fragile loads behave in transit. Tile pallets are strapped and cushioned where required, and our drivers are briefed on handling requirements before departure. We also photograph loads pre-departure and on delivery, so you have a clear record of condition throughout.

In many cases, yes, turf is time-sensitive and we treat it accordingly. Same-day turf delivery is available across metro Adelaide subject to scheduling. Because fresh turf degrades quickly after cutting, call us as early as possible in the day to maximise your chances of same-day delivery.

Yes. With our Moffett or telehandler options, we can place brick and block pallets at or near the point of use rather than kerbside. This reduces double-handling, protects your crew from unnecessary manual labour, and keeps your build moving. Confirm your preferred placement when booking.

Our fleet and Moffett can handle standard pallet weights up to the rated capacity of the vehicle used. Heavy-format porcelain and stone tiles often arrive on reinforced pallets let us know the pallet specs when booking and we'll confirm the right vehicle and approach.

Yes, where load compatibility allows. Mixed loads need to be planned carefully to avoid damage between material types, but we regularly consolidate deliveries to reduce truck movements and cost for our clients. Mention all materials needed when requesting your estimate.

We deliver across all metro Adelaide suburbs and regularly complete outer suburban and regional runs. Kangaroo Island deliveries have also been completed by our fleet. Provide your site address when booking and we'll confirm coverage and any additional logistics.

Urgent material shortages are one of our most common call types. Call us directly don't use the online form for urgent jobs. We'll tell you immediately what we can do and when. Our goal is always to keep your site moving rather than standing still waiting on freight.

We document deliveries with photos and can provide signed proof of delivery on request. For high-value loads like premium tiles or imported stone, we recommend confirming this requirement at booking, so our driver is prepared to document the job thoroughly.

Many deliveries can be scheduled same-day or next-day depending on availability and location.

We use flatbed trucks and semi-trailers depending on quantity. Turf is delivered fresh and can be unloaded quickly on-site.

Yes. Our team regularly transports fragile porcelain tiles using careful stacking, strapping and controlled offloading.

Yes. We can deliver multiple materials in the same load depending on weight, pallet size, and site access.
